Gas prices locally aren’t where they are in other parts of Kansas, but they also aren’t where they were just last week — and at least, that’s good news.
Gas prices had been running consistently between $3.59 and $3.69 a gallon for months, but several have dipped to $3.28 or $3.29 a gallon. There are still two as high as $3.44 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.com.
Areawide, gas runs as low as $3.14 in Eureka. The highest price now is $3.49 in Council Grove and Osage City. Statewide, El Dorado has the lowest price at $2.72 a gallon.
The drop in gas prices comes despite over two weeks of unrest in the Middle East after Hamas attacks on Israel. However, lower demand , a switch to cheaper winter blends and falling crude oil prices have combined to drive gas prices lower.
