The US Drought Monitor’s weekly map remains stable across the KVOE listening area for a third straight week.
Extreme drought is now covering virtually all of Chase and Coffey counties, northwest and south Lyon County south of Interstate 35 and US Highway 50, most of Greenwood and Morris counties, southeast Osage and western Wabaunsee counties.
Moderate to severe drought now covers most of Lyon, Osage and Wabaunsee counties, as well as western Chase and Morris counties.
Pockets of exceptional drought, the worst level on the scale, remain in central Chase and north Greenwood counties.
The area has been dry since light rainfall Oct. 4.
