One hundred fifty years of history will be celebrated by the Emporia Fire Department this weekend.
Emporia Fire will have its 150th anniversary open house at its headquarters facility on the south end of White Auditorium. Battalion Chief Tony Fuller, a guest on KVOE’s Newsmaker 3 segment Thursday, says firefighters are ready to show off their home away from home.
The event comes as early work is underway on a brand-new headquarters building, which is tentatively slotted across Market Street from the current headquarters. The city has already approved the architect and construction manager at-risk to flesh out the design and lead to construction.
The 150th anniversary open house goes from 10 am to 2 pm.
