Halftime adjustments played dividends for the Emporia High boys soccer team in its regular season finale Thursday against Junction City.
In a scoreless game through 40 minutes of play, Emporia High’s adjustments saw them score three times in the second half for a 3-0 victory over the Blue Jays.
Alex Mosiman scored two of the three goals, the first on a penalty kick in the 68th minute and the second in the 73rd minute. Mosiman says the adjustments the Spartans made at half, got them the opportunities to find the back of the net.
Kevin Magana scored the final goal in the 76th minute.
Coach Victor Ibarra says the Spartans are peaking at the right time.
Emporia High is now 9-7 on the season and has won five of its last six matches. The Spartans will find out their regional assignment on Saturday. Emporia High is seventh in the 5A west standings, which means a first-round home game will most likely be on Tuesday.
