Emporia State University continues announcing key components of its upcoming Homecoming celebration.
ESU announced its Distinguished Alumni on Thursday morning. The list includes:
*Cynthia Pendleton Eisenhauer, a former Emporian now living in Kansas City, Missouri. Eisenhauer graduated ESU with a bachelor’s of science in English in 1970 and has held key positions in Iowa state government for much of her postgraduate career.
*Carolyn Mockry Hernandez, an Olpe native, graduated with a bachelor’s of science in physical education in 1978, She moved to Nogales, Arizona, where she coached volleyball, basketball, softball, track and field and cheerleading.
*Dr. Courtney Knaup of Las Vegas, Nevada, graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s of science in physics. He is now the chief medical physicist at the Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada.
*John Masterson, an Iola native, obtained a bachelor’s of science in physical education in 1967 and a master’s in guidance in counseling in 1970. He then worked 40 years in higher education at Allen County Community College.
*Dr. Maria Alexandra Vuyk received a bachelor’s in psychology in 2005 and a master’s degree in special education teaching of gifted in 2010. She has dedicated her career to providing better teaching methods for gifted children around the world, notably in Paraguay.
*Chris Waldeck got a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1989. He has had leadership positions in several sports and apparel companies, including Spalding Sports Worldwide, Reebok International, VF Corporation and Kontoor Brands.
Distinguished Alums will be honored at the Black and Gold Gala on Oct. 27.
