The MIAA’s all-time leading goal scorer picked up her first haul of the season with all four of the Lady Hornet scores as Emporia State beat the Newman women’s soccer team 4-2 at Wilkins Field in Wichita on Friday night. Senior forward Mackenzie Dimarco didn’t take long to start the scoring notching her first goal of the night unassisted just over three minutes into the match. She scored twice more in the first half on assists by Alexis Cole and Karlie Kanaga before halftime. Dimarco added one more goal unassisted with just under 40 minutes to play in the match to give ESU a 4-0 lead. Dimarco dominated with seven shots and five shots on goal in the match. It’s Dimarco’s first haul since she tallied four goals in the first found of the NCAA Tournament last year in a 5-1 Lady Hornet win over Fort Hays State. Emporia State improves to 6-5-4 with the win while moving to 5-2-1 in MIAA play. Emporia State is back in action Sunday visiting Central Oklahoma. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
