The Emporia State volleyball team dominated early before holding off a Lion rally to earn a 25-13, 25-16, 25-23 sweep of Missouri Southern at White Auditorium Friday night. The Lady Hornets outhit Missouri Southern .385 to .071 in the first set and quickly cruised to a 2-0 lead while forcing the Lions to five attack errors in each of the first two sets. The Lions found their game in the third and led 21-19 before ESU went on a critical 4-0 run before trading side-outs to end the match. Junior outside hitter Sandora Sasaki notched her second-straight match with at least 20 kills by picking up 20 against the Lions on 46 swings hitting .370 while Camilla Ossola added nine kills while hitting .353 and leading the team with 14 digs. Ossola says the team has improved greatly the last few weeks.
Head coach Ken Murczek was excited for the win.
E-State improves to 11-9 on the year and moves to 5-7 in the MIAA. The Lady Hornets return to action today against Central Missouri. First serve at 2:00 p.m. at White Auditorium.
