Emporia State’s Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center has an out-of-this-world activitiy Saturday night.
PAROC will take part in an “International Observe the Moon” event. STEM Outreach Director Daphne Mayes says this fits well with PAROC’s mission.
The idea was suggested by ESU Planetarium Director Mark Brown. He will have several telescopes on hand, with information about the formation of craters and an evening hike opportunity along the Dale Greiner Nature Trail. There will also be moon-themed stories with the Emporia Public Library and a chance to create moon-inspired art.
Activities go from 6:30-9:30 pm. No registration is required, although children attending must have caregivers on hand. The event is free.
