A great night weatherwise led to a good attendance for a pair of activities organized by the Emporia Police Benefit Association on Saturday.
Officers organized the second annual Zombie Scramble disc golf tournament, with a free screening of the family movie Hotel Transylvania overlapping the tournament. Police Capt. Ray Mattas appreciated the turnout for both events, and he believes events like these are good for developing positive connections with the community.
Up next for the Benefit Association is its toy drive in conjunction with the David Traylor Zoo’s annual Happy Holidaze lighting ceremony next month. Mattas encourages residents to participate with new, unwrapped toys for children, and he believes this holiday season could see more children needing toys with signs of an economic slowdown increasing.
