Three major topics will highlight the upcoming meeting for the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education this week.
Board members will officially receive the district’s enrollment report, which demonstrates slight increases in total unaudited enrollment over last year, the number of bilingual students and the number of students receiving free meals.
Also, board members will get safety and security updates from Emporia High, Emporia Middle School, Jones Early Childhood Development Center and Timmerman administrators. There is also a resolution for a public hearing Dec. 13 on the potential closure of the former Kansas Avenue school building with tenants vacating the property.
Two executive sessions are on the agenda, one for safety and security matters and one for financial affairs.
The meeting is at 6:30 pm at Mary Herbert Education Center.
