The Emporia High boys soccer team had to rally back to keep its season alive on Tuesday against Seaman at the EHS Turf Field.
Emporia High scored three times in the final 22 minutes for a 3-1 victory over the Vikings.
After the Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute, the Spartans didn’t take long to respond. In the 58th minute, sophomore Kevin Magana tied the game. Magana had an opportunity to score a second, but his shot was saved, however, freshman Brayden Sailer was right there for the rebound and put it in the back of the net in the 64th minute.
Senior Alex Mosiman added the Spartans’ final goal in the 77th minute.
Coach Victor Ibarra says this game was a tale of how their season has been.
Emporia High is now 10-7 on the season. The Spartans will play for a regional championship at 6 p.m. Thursday at Newton. The game will be played at Fischer Field.
