The wreck on the Kansas Turnpike in Chase County on Tuesday night is not being investigated as a standard crash.
Kansas Highway Patrol Lt. Dave Hundley tells KVOE News troopers are investigating the crash as a possibly intentional act of running off the highway. Hundley also says it appears the driver may have been suffering some sort of mental crisis before the wreck.
The crash happened before 8 pm Tuesday at mile marker 114, or 13 miles southwest of the Emporia tollgate. The driver was taken to Newman Regional Health with unspecified injuries afterward.
