Homecoming activities are underway at Emporia State University.
Activities started Wednesday with the traditional trike races at Kellogg Circle. Activities Thursday include the Sam and Jeannene Hayes Lecture at Webb Hall as well as the debut of the Homecoming musical, “Little Shop of Horrors,” at Bruder Theatre. Both events start at 7:30 pm.
Friday’s schedule is busy, including the start of the 38th annual Phi Delta Theta Pole Sit. Fundraising always benefits SOS, and Chapter President Chris Peine says there will be a special aspect to the event this year.
The Pole sit goes from 10 am Friday to 10 am Saturday.
Other activities include — but are not limited to — the School of Nursing open house from 1-3 pm at Cora Miller Hall, the Black and Gold Gala starting at 6:30 pm at Webb Hall and the Homecoming bonfire at Wilson Park starting at 8:30 pm.
Activities are largely sports-based — traditional and otherwise — on Saturday, with the esports open house at Cremer Hall from 9 am to noon, softball alumni game at 10 am at Trusler Sports Complex and football game against Nebraska-Kearney starting at 2 pm.
Sunday’s highlight is the matinee of “Little Shop of Horrors” at 2 pm at Bruder Theatre.
