Lyon County’s website will be getting a new look next year after County Commission action Thursday.
Commissioners approved a partnership with CivicPlus for the county website. Total cost is over $32,000.
On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Friday, Public Relations Manager Vici Smith said this is a project better than 18 months in the making. She says it will be a more user-friendly, secure website than the current site at lyoncounty.org. CivicPlus is the city of Emporia’s partner for its latest website, emporiaks.gov, but Smith says the two websites will have several key differences.
Smith says there will likely be options for residents to pay certain items like taxes and permit fees, but there is no immediate plan for a mass notification component.
In other business Thursday, commissioners:
*Approved nearly $300,000 in local matching funds for Lyon County Area Transportation, reflecting fiscal 2025 operations
*Approved a mini-excavator engine purchase and requests for proposal involving structural steel beams and galvanized bridge planks for the Lyon County Highway Department
*Approved a $13,000 partnership with Tech Electronics for the annual fire alarm test and inspection process for several county buildingss
