The Emporia State soccer team tallied two goals in the second half to put away Nebraska-Kearney in a 3-1 victory in Kearney, Neb. on Friday afternoon. The MIAA’s all-time leading goal scorer Mackenzie Dimarco starred again for the Lady Hornets and started the scoring with a one-on-one goal just six minutes into the match. Neither team tallied again in the first half, but just over 10 minutes into the second half Dimarco found the back of the net again on an assist from Hannah Woolery. 10 minutes later, Woolery assisted again on a goal by Anna Burnett from 25 yards out. The Lopers scored with just over 15 minutes to play in the match but was unable to apply any further pressure. The Lady Hornets outshot UNK 19-11 overall and 14-6 in shots on goal. ESU takes an 8-5-4 record overall and a 6-2-1 MIAA record into the season ending Turnpike Tussle against #6 Washburn on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
