Following a freezing night north of Emporia on Friday night, cold and potentially snowy conditions are ahead for the KVOE listening area.
Morris and Wabaunsee counties have a freeze warning from 10 pm Friday to 10 am Saturday. Temperatures may dip to the upper 20s overnight.
Showers become likely areawide by late Saturday afternoon as temperatures struggle to the low 40s. Showers may continue through the overnight hours and start changing to a wintry mix of snow, sleet, showers and freezing drizzle as temperatures get to freezing by early Sunday. If a wintry mix develops, it likely won’t lead to much accumulation but isolated travel issues can’t be ruled out. Any wintry mix will shift to showers for the afternoon, with snow showers possibly added for the later afternoon and early evening hours. Sunday’s high temperatures may be in the mid-30s with windy conditions.
The hard freeze coming north of Emporia on Friday night goes areawide by Sunday night with lows in the mid-20s. High temperatures Monday through Wednesday will be in the 40s. Monday night’s low will be 23. The low on Halloween night will be 17. Overnight lows through Halloween night will almost certainly end the growing season.
KVOE and KVOE.com will have updates.
