The Lebo volleyball team regrouped heading into Saturday’s bracket play of the Class 1A-Division II state volleyball tournament held at White Auditorium.
Lebo needed three sets to defeat Wallace County in its semifinal, 25-22, 17-25, 25-14 and swept Hanover, 25-20, 25-10 in the state championship match to win their second consecutive state title. The Wolves’ win over Hanover avenged a loss to the Wildcats in pool play.
Lebo coach Gina Peek says regrouping and watching film when the Wolves got home was an emphasis on preparing for Saturday.
Senior Audrey Peek says entering the championship match after just playing a three-set match, the Wolves had to trust themselves and focus on what’s on the line.
Junior Saige Hadley had the kill to win the championship match and says this one is a little bit more special than last year’s state championship.
Lebo finished its season with a 40-3 record.
