Two area cross country runners won state championships on Saturday in Wamego.
Lebo’s Caleb Durst won the 1A boys race in 16:29.9.
Northern Heights’ Ellei McCrory won the 1A girls race with a time of 18:30.69. As a team, the Northern Heights girls finished seventh.
The Northern Heights boys finished eighth in 1A. Cooper Hamlin was the top finisher for the Wildcats taking 20th with a time of 17:43.8
The Olpe boys finished 10th in 1A. Kaleb Arnold finished sixth with a time of 17:09.3.
The Chase County boys finished eighth as a team in 2A. Silus Hernandez finished 11th with a time of 16:46.6.
Chase County’s Sadie Mushrush finished 47th in the 2A girls race with a time of 22:36.29
In 1A, Lebo’s Kennah Speer finished 36th with a time of 22:17. Madison’s Lily Hudson ran a 22:30.4 finishing in 42nd.
In Class 3A at Rim Rock Farm, Council Grove’s Lakoddah Downes finished ninth with a time of 16:11.8 while Jadyn Picolet finished 35th with a time of 17:28.6.
The Osage City girls finished sixth as a team. Two Lady Indians had top 10 finishers led by Emory Speece who finished ninth with a time of 20:17.7. Jaiton Bosse was 10th with a time of 20:20.4.
