The Kansas State men’s basketball team notched two 50-point halves on the way to a 102-68 exhibition win over #20 Emporia State in Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kan. Wednesday night. The teams traded the first 16 points of the game and were tied 8-all at the first media timeout. The Wildcats slowly built a double-digit lead but the Hornets cut it to 20-14 midway through the period. Late in the first, the Wildcats started getting more stops defensively and eventually built a 51-33 lead at halftime. The Wildcats were able to break down the Hornet defense in the second half and shot 56% from the field in the frame to pull away for the exhibition win. E-State head coach Craig Doty saw positives from his team in the loss.
Junior guard Kaden Evans says there’s plenty to learn from but also plenty to build on from the game.
Solomon Oraegbu led the Hornets with 18 points while Owen Long was 3-for-9 from outside on the way to 17 points. Alijah Comithier added 12 and Evans had seven assists against just one turnover. Cam Carter paced the Wildcats with 20. Peyton Rogers-Schmidt played just 13 minutes in the game before leaving in the first half with a dislocated knee cap in his left knee. He’s scheduled for an MRI this week and has been ruled out of Emporia State’s games this weekend.
