The Emporia State volleyball team hit over .300 in three of four sets on the way to a 26-24, 25-20, 24-26, 25-16 victory on Senior Day at White Auditorium on Friday night. The Lady Hornets level dipped in the third set as they hit a match-worst .128 to allow the Gorillas to stay in the match, but ESU rebounded to swing a blazing .464 in the fourth to take the match. Sandora Sasaki ripped off a match-high 25 kills with five aces while McKenya Sorrells added 11 while hitting .409 in the match. Anakaren Chavez led the way defensively with 18 digs while Brailee Bogle notched 42 assists. Head coach Ken Murczek said it was great to win for the seniors.
Chavez said the crowd energy helped the team rally through adversity.
The Lady Hornets improved to 12-13 on the season and 6-11 in the MIAA with the victory. E-State returns to action at home Saturday hosting #17 Central Oklahoma. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
