For the second consecutive week, the Chase County Bulldogs had to be road warriors on Friday night.
The Bulldogs faced Moundridge, who entered the game ranked third in 8-Man Division I at 9-0. Chase County played spoiler upsetting the Wildcats, 36-26.
Chase County never trailed in the game despite the game being tied once. Wyatt Griffin found Tag Groh for a 36-yard touchdown with 4:48 left in the first quarter. Moundridge pulled within two, but on the ensuing kickoff, Groh took the kickoff 78 yards for a score.
Moundridge pulled back within two with 9:19 left in the second quarter, but Chase County got a 29-yard touchdown reception from Griffin to Groh with no time left on the clock to end the first half with a 20-12 lead.
Moundridge capitalized on an interception tying the game at 20 with 2:14 left in the third.
Griffin found Groh for a 37-yard score with 11:51 left in the game and Brock Griffin sealed the win with a 1-yard touchdown run with 2:02 left.
Groh had 121 receiving yards on five catches and four touchdowns. He also had two interceptions on the night.
Chase County coach Derick Budke says the Bulldogs battled from start to finish.
Brock Griffin finished the night with 135 yards rushing and two scores while Wyatt Griffin threw for 136 yards and three touchdowns.
Chase County is now 7-3 on the season. The Bulldogs host Cair Paravel on Friday. The game will be broadcast on Country 101.7 FM with a 7 p.m. kickoff and a 6:35 p.m. pregame. Cair Paravel defeated Chase County 52-16 back on October 13th.
