USD 454 Burlingame Schools went into a short lockdown following an unspecified threat against the district Monday morning.
According to USD 454 Superintendent Dr. Marcy Cassidy, district administration was notified of the threat at approximately 11 am. Per district crisis policy, the building’s resource officer and administration then issued a shelter-in-place order followed shortly by a full lockdown of the building.
Osage County Sheriff’s Deputies and Burlingame Police responded to the situation, searched the school and surrounding area and later apprehended and took a juvenile suspect into custody without incident at 11:40 am. Dr. Cassidy and the Sheriff’s Office offered thanks to the individuals who reported the threats.
Dr. Cassidy added that all students and staff were safe throughout the situation and no injuries were reported. Additional details, including the suspect’s name and potential charges, are pending.
