Emporia State University students are enjoying the redesigned space between the Memorial Union and Plumb Hall.
The Feltner Student Union Square was officially opened during Emporia State’s Homecoming activities. ESU Foundation Director of Development Amy Piersol tells KVOE News this will benefit everybody on campus.
The Feltner Square was named in honor of ESU alum Dr. Ray Feltner, who received a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1960, followed by a master’s degree in psychology the following year. Both Feltner and his wife, Robyn, said they wanted to make the space a welcoming spot for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
The redesigned area includes new landscaping, several seating areas, a special water feature and a fire pit. Lighting was also increased in that immediate area, which is now handicapped-accessible.
