Emporia High senior Addie Kirmer signed with Emporia State to continue her basketball career Wednesday afternoon.
Kirmer will join current Lady Hornet and former Lady Spartan Gracie Gilpin in the program next year.
Kirmer says Lady Hornet coach Brian Ostermann’s family mentality was a reason she wanted to play for the Lady Hornets.
Emporia High coach Carolyn Dorsey says it’s great for Kirmer to sign early and get the stress off heading into the new season. Dorsey says she’s excited for Kirmer’s future.
Ostermann talked about Kirmer in a statement released by ESU: “Super excited to have another local product join our team! Addie is ultra-competitive, and she will be a player that will challenge her teammates to be better! Addie can really shoot the ball and that is also a welcome skill for our ballclub.”
Emporia High begins practicing on Monday with its first game set for December 1 against Ottawa.
