Leadership of Empower House Ministries was proud to unveil their newest recovery home to the public Wednesday evening.
The organization hosted an open-house event for the home which serves male addicts in the process of recovery. Empower House began operations 18 months ago exclusively serving women and founder Melissa Landis says expanding operations to serve local men was a natural progression.
The home can accommodate up to 10 residents per city zoning regulations with Landis saying they are keeping one space open for times of transition. Empower House offers a faith-based approach to give addicts stability and temporary housing as they work on their recoveries for the long term while also providing various skills clinics throughout the year.
In addition to helping advance the agency’s mission within the local community, Landis says the new home carries sentimental value for her as she was a previous tenant in the home when it was an apartment complex.
At this time, Empower House is renting the home, the address of which is not being publicized for privacy purposes, with a purchase agreement in place. Landis says there is still about $30,000 needed to finalize the purchase.
The men’s recovery home follows the opening of Empower Houses’ women’s home last fall. For more information on the agency visit www.Empowerhouseministries.org.
