Lyon County commissioners have been asked to sign a letter of support for Newman Regional Health’s plan to block a possible new medical facility from Stormont-Vail Health, and they could take action during their regular meeting Thursday.
Commissioners currently plan to take up the matter as part of their “other business” portion of the meeting. Newman Regional Health has requested approval from the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission and City Commission for the express purpose of disallowing any outside entity from providing certain medical services if those are already in place at Newman Regional Health. The Planning Commission has a discussion set for Nov. 21.
Separately, commissioners could appove a nearly $9,300 contract renewal with ESRI for GIS services. Two executive sessions are planned, one for non-elected personnel and one for legal matters.
The meeting starts at 9 am at the County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
