They are home, tired but gratified after USD 252 Southern Lyon County’s latest Honor Flight to the nation’s capital.
The “they” includes USD 252 students and area veterans like Arlyn Schuler. He tells KVOE News he saw things “I’ve just read about and seen pictures of.”
Schuler’s student guardian, Aubryn Garriot of Olpe, says she enjoyed the interpersonal connections that developed on the trip.
Veteran Seth Matthews says he was stunned by the trip.
Veteran Gilbert Stefan says the reaction he and other Vietnam veterans received was a world apart from when he came back home from that war.
Hartford student Daden Wilson says he’s wanted to see the monuments around Washington, DC, but he had other reasons for wanting to go.
The district’s 12th Honor Flight departed early Monday — as in 3 am — and returned around 10 pm Tuesday. The district is already fundraising for the spring 2024 trip.
