Formal charges are pending for a Texas man arrested in Chase County this week after an alleged burglary in Oklahoma.
The Chase County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy handled a vehicle stop for an allegedly speeding vehicle on US Highway 50 near the Lyon-Chase county line just after 11 pm Monday. The driver, 43-year-old Willie Powell of Webster, Texas, had a warrant in Louisiana for armed robbery, so Powell was taken to the Chase County Jail in Cottonwood Falls.
Further investigation indicated Powell is on the Jefferson Parish, Louisiana Top 100 Most Wanted list for armed robbery. He also allegedly had items from an alleged burglary in Oklahoma City from earlier Monday evening.
Deputies say the investigation is ongoing and they thanked counterparts in Lyon County for their help with the case
