Veterans Day weekend is thick with activities.
The annual veterans breakfast begins the activity slate at 7 am at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor, followed by the annual parade on Commercial starting at 9:30 am. Lead organizer Jason Webb says close to 50 entries are already involved.
The memorial service begins at 11 am at the All Veterans Memorial. Both the parade and memorial service will be broadcast on KVOE-TV at KVOE.com.
Saturday still has other activities to attend:
*Ham and bean feed, noon at American Legion Post 5
*Soup feed and raffle, noon at VFW Post 1980
*35th Infantry Division Band concert, 2 pm at Albert Taylor Hall
*Lazy Wayne Band and Cody Joe Hodges concert, 7 pm at the Emporia Granada Theatre
*Undercover — an ’80s Experience Band, 7 pm at VFW Post 1980
And Sunday has the Quilts of Gratitude presentation. Kathy Hamman of the Emporia Regional Quilt Guild says the event is a point of pride for the guild.
The presentation is at 1 pm at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building.
