Representatives of Sparkwheel have been busy introducing, or rather re-introducing, the agency to the local community as of late.
The reason why no introduction is needed is because Sparkwheel is not exactly a new entity in the local community, rather Sparkwheel is an independent organization that branched off of Communities in Schools an organization that has had a well-known presence in the local community. Anthony joined KVOE’s Morning Show last week to discuss the name change and services provided by the organization saying their mission is the same as it was under the Communities in Schools umbrella, helping to meet student needs and overcome “gaps” in the educational process.
Anthony says this work begins with the integration of a Student Support Coordinator within the schools they serve.
In addition to the work in the learning environment, Anthony says Sparkwheel addresses non-academic essential needs.
Sparkwheel’s services are aimed at all levels of education including early childhood, K-12, post-secondary and tribal education departments. Sparkwheel currently serves more than 60 schools across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Iowa providing support to over 36,000 students.
