The policy is in place, however, the full procedure is still in the works for USD 252 Southern Lyon County.
As part of the UD 252 Board of Education meeting last Wednesday, members approved the publication of the district’s new open enrollment policy according to Superintendent Ryan Muhlig. Muhlig says while the policy has been nailed down, there is still some work to do procedure-wise.
Specifically, Muhlig says the district has to narrow down exactly what its capacity limits will be at each grade level.
When asked if he believes the new policy will mean a larger influx of transfer students, Muhlig says he does not see a major change coming.
Additional talking points included discussions on personnel, a fiscal 2024 auditor contract and reports from both Muhlig and building principals. The USD 252 Southern Lyon County Board of Education will reconvene for its next regular meeting in November.
