Emporia city commissioners are meeting in action and study session Wednesday, and both meetings have significant discussion points.
The action session is first at 10 am. Commissioners could well approve a contract with Crossland Construction for a new fire station in downtown Emporia and an expanded fire station at 15th and Industrial. Separately, commissioners could also approve a rezoning of 513 and 519 Congress from single-family attached to flex-use high in advance of a possible expansion of Quick Lube next door. Commissioners could also approve nearly $10 million in general obligation bonds for several projects, includnig the East 12th Avenue water tower rehab, lift station replacements and a sewer main replacement.
The study meeting begins immediately after the action session ends. The main discussion items are a presention from the Emporia Recreation Commission and conversation about Quaker Park.
