Parking and infrastructure matters will lead the Lyon County Commission action meeting Thursday.
Commissioners will consider a motion for a parking lease agreement with Raise Your Paws, 312 Commercial. Owner Melanie Smith and her husband, Justice Painting owner Jarom Smith, say they are paying $750 a year for three spaces and are the only business owners in downtown Emporia with that arrangement with Lyon County. Commission Chair Rollie Martin says that’s an agreement the Smiths proposed to the county last year.
Once that item is addressed, commissioners could approve low bids for structural steel beams and galvanized steel bridge planks for the County Highway Department. They could also approve several change orders for the Highway Department’s new shop complex.
Besides those agenda items, commissioners will review board appointments. They will also have three executive sessions — one each for non-elected personnel, legal and security matters. During the “other business” portion of the meeting, commissioners could re-table a motion a potential city annexation of Industrial Park 4 property until Nov. 22.
Thursday’s meeting starts at 9 am at the County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
