Emporia Public Schools says there was no credible threat Wednesday after a high school student allegedly made an inappropriate social media comment.
Initially, the Community Relations Department said the comment regarded a possible threat to Emporia High. The nature of that threat has not been divulged. Later, Community Relations said there never was a threat to the school.
Community Relations says Emporia High administrators and EHS Security Officer Todd Ayer began talking with potential witnesses, reviewing video and increasing supervision shortly after the incident was reported. Emporia Police was also involved.
USD 253 says the district appreciates the partnerships it has with Emporia Police and the community at large in safety matters such as these.
