Work is nearing the end on two additions to the Lyon County Highway Department campus.
Assistant County Engineer Jim Brull had a brief update for Lyon County commissioners during their action session Thursday. Brull says the bridge building could well be finished within a month. The new maintenance shop will likely be done by spring 2024, if not sooner.
The new buildings cost around $5 million in total. Brull says the 21,000 square feet of building space will help the Highway Department have adequate space for its employees and equipment.
Separately, commissioners approved a reduction in the lease amount discussed last week for Raise Your Paws at 312 Commercial. Raise Your Paws paid $720 to lease three parking spaces last year. Commissioners approved a new rate of $360 per year.
Commissioners also approved an $833,000 payment to Motorola for the city-county radio system. It’s the fourth of five payments before the system is fully paid off.
