SOS will be receiving a substantial grant allotment following an announcement by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly Friday.
Governor Kelly announced that 65 crime victim and survivor service organizations across the state are now set to receive grants through the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Victim Assistance grant program. The grants will provide support for victims’ emotional, psychological and physical needs with services including court advocacy and criminal justice support, crisis counseling, forensic interviews and shelter, transportation and transitional housing.
A total of nearly $15 million is being allocated across the 65 organizations with SOS receiving more than $335,000. The announcement comes just a day after SOS announced the hiring of current United Way of the Flint Hills CEO Mickey Edwards as the agency’s next executive director.
