As usual, there was a line of people waiting for the Fairgrounds Anderson Building to open up for the Harvest Home Festival.
Messiah Lutheran Church has organized the festival for years, and Pastor Eddie Hosch tells KVOE News it has become a natural way to bring a large community together — whether in Lyon County or from a decent distance.
Hosch also says the congregation plans for this event year-round. All age groups pitch in to help on the day of the event.
Once again, the Harvest Home Festival included a flea market, jelly cupboard, live and silent auctions, meals, baked goods and more. This year’s proceeds are going to the Emporia Senior Center, Friendship Meals and the Orphan Grain Train. Totals will likely be announced after Sunday’s worship service.
