Around 300 residents were affected by a major power outage in Far West Emporia Sunday.
The outage was first reported around 10:30 am affecting customers between Graphic Arts Road and Americus Road north of US Highway 50 up to Road 180. According to Evergy District Services Manager Rolland Trahoon II the outage was the result of failed equipment in near the Trusler Sports Complex.
Power was restored around 1 pm.
Separately, parts of western Chase County lost power after a power supplier transmission line to the Marion substation had a pole burn down. The outage apparently developed around 6 pm and was restored a couple hours later. A cause has not been announced.
