Updates will highlight the Emporia Recreation Commission’s monthly meeting Monday.
Board members will review their latest conversation with the Emporia City Commission following a presentation — and Rec Commission recommendation — for a new indoor public recreation facility in downtown Emporia to eventually replace the Lee Beran Recreation Center, although the Rec Commission is leaving open the prospect of repurposing Lee Beran for a variety of community needs if a new facility is built.
Other updates Monday will include a progress report on the new GolfZone simulator and the recently-completed Class 1A Division 2 state volleyball tournament.
Board members could also approve the fee structure for the GolfZone simulator as well as bid specifications for used pickup trucks. Leadership team updates and a review of an evaluation instrument for Director Tom McEvoy are also planned.
The meeting starts at 5:30 pm Monday at the Lee Beran Recreation Center.
