Two Nebraskans and a Kansan were brought to Emporia for medical treatment after a wreck in Osage County early Monday morning.
The Kansas Highway Patrol noted the wreck just before 12:30 am at Kansas Turnpike mile marker 158.1 southbound, just over 30 miles northeast of the Emporia gate and just over 10 miles northeast of the Admire gate.
Troopers say an SUV driven by 53-year-old Christine Carter of Omaha was distracted by an item outside her vehicle. She looked away from the road. When she looked back, the SUV had gone off the highway before hitting a guardrail.
Carter was taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Health, as were 35-year-old Redford Carter of Omaha and and 33-year Mercedes Carter of Wichita. All three had suspected minor injuries and were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
