Over 50 Emporia State student-athletes were honored for their work on and off the field with Earl W Sauder Scholarships this month.
Earl Sauder began the scholarship with a better than $1 million gift in 2004, two years before his passing. Sauder’s son, Steve, and Steve’s wife, Bobbi, followed the initial gift with a 10-year pledge in 2013 to double the annual scholarship output. Last year, they also announced a legacy gift to “ensure the scholarship will support ESU student-athletes for future generations,” also helping the university recruit top-level student-athletes as part of the Together, Forward fundraising campaign.
Also this month, the university recognized Brooke Flewelling and Kennedy Topping, both softball athletes, with the Bobbi Sauder Student-Athlete Nursing Scholarship.
