The Flint Hills Optimists are launching their annual Christmas tree lot fundraiser Friday.
Today’s hours at the Guion’s Showcase parking lot will be 10 am to 8 pm. After this, weekday hours are 5:30-8 pm while supplies last. Saturday hours are 10 am to 8 pm. Sunday hours are 1-6 pm.
Spokesperson and lead organizer Bob Burenheide says there is ample supply — for now.
Trees are coming from Wisconsin. Emporia’s Redline Trucking brought the trees to Emporia. The Emporia High wrestling team also helped to unload the trees. Other partners include Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply, Mark II Lumber and the city of Emporia.
Several kinds of fresh-cut trees will be available, including Canadian balsam, Fraser fir, white pine and Scotch pine, and sizes will range from five to nine feet. Wreaths and garland will also be available.
