The Morris County Drug Enforcement Unit says it has arrested an Emporia man on suspicion of distributing drugs near a school.
The arrest happened Thursday night as part of a traffic stop in the 1000 block of East Main in Council Grove, about two blocks east of Council Grove Elementary School. A news release says 36-year-old John Salazar was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute the drug within 1,000 feet of a school, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and possesison of marijuana.
The news release says Morris County K-9 Kimber alerted to unspecified illegal activity, so team members did a probable cause search and found “a significant quantity” of meth and paraphernalia.
Formal charges are pending.
