Your first chance to enjoy Emporia Main Street’s holiday carriage rides will have to wait.
The scheduled debut was Thursday evening, but Community Development Coordinator Jessica Buchholz says the high chance of rainfall and temperatures expected in the 40s make it prudent to cancel this round of rides.
Main Street will refund everybody who signed up. Buchholz says people can reschedule for any of the remaining dates — Dec. 7, Dec. 14 or Dec. 21.
Noon Wednesday: Emporia Main Street’s holiday carriage rides set to begin Thursday — weather permitting
Holiday carriage rides are set to make their seasonal debut Thursday evening in downtown Emporia, and Main Street Community Development Coordinator Jessica Buchholz says demand has been strong.
The biggest change has been to add a second carriage so Main Street can meet the demand.
Thursday’s debut is weather-dependent, and there is a chance of rainfall by early evening. Buchholz says a decision will be made by early Thursday on whether to have the rides.
Other opportunities are Dec. 7, Dec. 14 and Dec. 21 between 5-8 pm. Rides are $8 for people above age 5 if purchased online in advance and $10 on site. More information is available at emporiamainstreet.com or the Main Street Facebook page.
