Formal charges have been filed against the Emporia man who allegedly led a chase in portions of eastern Emporia Monday.
The Lyon County Attorney’s Office has filed single counts of distribution of methamphetamine, distribution of marijuana, flee and elude, felony possession of drug paraphernalia and felony interference with law enforcement along with seven counts of felony criminal possession of a weapon by a felon against Alejandro Lara-Ceja Wednesday. The alleged chase went around portions of eastern Emporia before ending in the 600 block of Lakeview with Lara-Ceja’s tasering and arrest.
A date for his first appearance in the case is currently pending. Meanwhile, court proceedings began Tuesday after Lara-Ceja was officially charged with six counts of aggravated violations of the state’s Offender Registration Act in one separate case along with a count of unlawfully tampering with electronic monitoring equipment in another.
Lara-Ceja will have preliminary hearings Jan. 17 in both cases. Steve Atherton has been appointed as defense attorney.
