Flint Hills Technical College administration and leadership of Newman Regional Health gathered Wednesday morning to recognize three FTHC nursing students.
Brielle Bowman, Jenna Ford and Melissa Azua-Miranda were each named recipients of the Newman Hardy Hubbard Memorial Scholarship. They received those scholarships during a special reception on the FHTC main campus.
Bowman, who has already committed to Newman Regional Health once she graduates this year, says she is excited to have her next path in place.
Ford says it has been a lifelong dream of hers to become a nurse.
Azua-Miranda says she hopes she can be a role model for others in the community.
FHTC Director of Nursing Anna Crabtree says the college’s partnership with Newman provides so many tremendous benefits to their students, namely providing real-world hands-on experience.
Newman CEO Cathy Pimple commended each of the honorees Wednesday for choosing to enter such a selfless profession.
All three recipients of the Hardy Hubbard Scholarship were awarded $1,000.
