The Emporia High boys swim and diving team kicked off its season with an 8-team invitational at the Emporia High School poll.
Emporia High finished third as a team with 361 points finishing behind team champion Derby and runner-up Wichita Colleigate.
In the diving portion of the event, senior Alex Allemang finished second with a score of 157. Allemang says this is a solid start for him to start the season.
Junior Mark Decker finished sixth of 108.45.
On the swim side, the 200-yard freestyle relay of Logan Woydziak, Ian Navarro, Tyler Luthi and Shane Anderson finished second with a time of 1:44.15 and missed a consideration time by under .1 second. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Wodziak, Navarro, Luthi and Anderson finished third with a time of 4:01.06.
Luthi finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:17.03. Logan Woydziak finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.09 and was third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:00.31.
Luke Marshall finished sixth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7:26.16.
Colin Wen finished seventh in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:52.68.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Broden Podrebarac, Noah Coltrane, Wen and Luke Marshall finished eighth (2:13.24).
Anderson finished eighth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:07.09 and finished sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.
Landon Bird finished eighth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:29.38.
Emporia High will travel to Campus for a meet next Thursday.
