The Emporia High basketball teams will make their season debut Friday night at home taking on Ottawa.
It’s the first of five home doubleheaders in December, including three nights at White Auditorium next week in the Paul Terry Classic.
The Emporia High girls looked to start their season on a high note ranked sixth in Class 5A in the KBCA’s preseason rankings.
Emporia High coach Carolyn Dorsey said the Lady Spartans have to be the aggressors.
Senior Ryan Peak said Ottawa is a solid team.
Meanwhile, the Emporia High boys will be looking to find their identity early against an Ottawa team that’s ranked ninth in Class 4A.
Emporia High boys coach Lee Baldwin said the Spartans have to be physical against an experienced Ottawa team.
