Vocal and instrumental holiday songs, traditional and new, were played before an appreciative audience at the Emporia Granada Theatre on Thursday.
Between 400-500 people attended the concert, led by Emporia native Jack Mouse on drums and his wife, Janice Borla, on vocals — and featuring an all-star cast of jazz musicians. The concert was part of the Emporia Arts Center’s annual Performing Arts Series and it was free to attend, thanks to the efforts of John and Claudia Kretsinger.
The holidays are traditionally busy at the Granada, and this year is no exception. The Granada goes from the holiday jazz show to the Emporia Municipal Band’s annual Christmas concert Dec. 10, followed by Jamie O’Neal’s Spirit & Joy of Christmas on Dec. 16.
