The now-dismissed Emporia State fraternity member arrested on suspicion of distributing several kinds of drugs to Emporia Police investigators over the past month now faces over 15 total counts in connection to his arrest earlier this week.
Caden Hunt, age 20 of Overland Park, now faces five counts of distributing cocaine, two each of distributing LSD and marijuana and single counts of distributing cannabinoids and psilocybin. Hunt’s also facing three counts of distributing drugs through the illegal use of communication devices — specifically cell phones and the use of either YikYak or Snapchat mobile apps.
Hunt’s also facing one count of possessing drug paraphernalia.
Hunt was arrested Tuesday evening. Emporia Police Capt. Ray Mattas says officers bought cocaine, LSD and marijuana from Hunt in early November. Officers also served a search warrant at the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity house, 1309 Sylvan, and found more narcotics and a firearm according to Mattas. The amounts have not been specified, but the legal complaint indicates up to 400 grams of cocaine, 200 dosage units of LSD, 50 grams of marijuana, 100 grams of cannabinoids and 100 grams of psilocybin were involved.
Sigma Tau Gamma says Hunt was dismissed as a fraternity member shortly after his arrest. The fraternity also says it condemns the alleged activity and is working with both Emporia State and local authorities as the case moves into court.
Hunt will have his first appearance in Lyon County District Court at 1:15 pm Monday.
